frequently asked questions

The following is a list of questions we hear most often. Please browse through the list to see if the question you have is here. If you have any other questions please contact our office.

How does the doctor keep up to date on all of the current techniques and technologies?

Continuing education is a priority for Dr. Kling, who has spent many, many hours of classroom time in enhancing his skills and learning how to better serve his patients.

Dr. Kling’s commitment to continuing education is shown in the quality and quantity of his post-graduate education. He has attended classes at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, and the LSU School of Dentistry’s Academy of Continuing Dental Education. He has also achieved Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, which requires more than 500 hours of approved continuing dental education and the successful completion of a comprehensive 400-question examination.

Dr. Kling’s team members share his commitment to continuing education as a means of providing excellent patient care. They have also attended courses at the L.D. Pankey Institute and at LSU.

How can I ask the doctor questions directly?

What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?

We use the latest sterilization techniques and practices to ensure your health and safety in our office. We even use ozone-protected water, which kills many types of bacteria. We proudly take extra steps like this to protect our patients.

What makes you different from any other dental practice I could visit?

In our office, you’ll get individualized attention and a personal touch that’s lacking in so many of today’s dental practices. Our focus on you is evident from the first time you call our office — the person who answers the phone will greet you warmly and listen carefully to your needs and requests. When you come in, our whole team will greet you.

Another distinction is the time that Dr. Kling spends with you. Your visit starts with an examination by Dr. Kling, which gives you time to express any of your concerns and ask any questions you may have. We focus on the details as we build a long-term relationship with you—one that we hope will endure as long as your beautiful smile!

What are smile analysis and smile design?

Smile analysis and design are actually artistic and technical processes that we go through to create a smile that is uniquely and beautifully yours. First, we listen carefully to you so that we understand your concerns about your current smile and your desires for a new one.

We take digital photographs of your face and your smile, take x-rays of your entire mouth, and work up wax models to three-dimensionally recreate your current bite and smile. We analyze the proportions of your face to make sure that your new teeth are the perfect size, shape and dimensions to complement it.

Finally, we build a model of your new smile so that you can actually see what you will look like. You’ll be amazed—and very excited—when you see the smile of your dreams come to life!

Crowns, veneers, on-lays, inlays and partials…where can I learn more about these procedures?

Just ask us! We’re always very happy to have you come in and talk to us, and we have many ways to help you learn about all these dental procedures.

You can get great information from our patient education system (CAESY) on computer screens right at chairside. Sometimes, to help you better understand and visualize exactly what each procedure entails, we’ll do a composite mockup of a procedure as you’re sitting in the chair, or we can have the labs do models.
