about us

Dr. John D. Kling

Dr. John D. Kling II was raised in Alexandria, Virginia. He graduated from Wake Forest University in North Carolina with a B.A. in Biology in 1979 and from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1984. He completed his residency at Buffalo General Hospital in 1985, and has been in private practice since that time.

Dr. Kling’s post-graduate education includes extensive course work through the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education, the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, and the LSU School of Dentistry’s Academy of Continuing Dental Education. He has achieved Fellowship through the Academy of General Dentistry, which requires more than 500 hours of approved continuing dental education and the successful completion of a comprehensive 400-question examination.

This coursework has given Dr. Kling the background to provide all types of esthetic dental treatments, including the removal of worn silver amalgams and replacement with natural-looking, tooth colored materials. He is also a master of complex cases involving smile design, tooth replacement and treatment of TMJ problems.

Dr. Kling is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Alexandria Dental Society (he previously served as its president). He is the former chair of the Alexandria Public Health Advisory Commission as well.

His other recognitions include being named one of Washington’s best dentists in 1998, 2002 and 2003 by Washingtonian Magazine; one of Washington Consumer Checkbook’s Top Dentists several times; one of the Best Dentists in America in 2003, 2004 and 2005; and awarded Professional Service Business of the Year award in 1998 from the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.

When he’s not busy with dental-related matters, Dr. Kling also enjoys golf, running, camping, hiking and reading.
